Curriculum Overview

Education is at the forefront of TEC's mission. Building on the College of Engineering's tradition of education and technological innovation that dates back to the nineteenth century, the Technology Entrepreneur Center is creating a curriculum to educate the engineer with entrepreneurial aspirations.

The Center enjoys an affiliation with the Department of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering, through which most of its courses are offered, and in which most of its instructors have faculty appointments (in addition to those in the colleges of Business, Education and Law).

At TEC, our primary inquiry in shaping our curriculum is not what skills engineers need today, but what role engineers play in the national and worldwide economy in the next twenty years.

The College of Engineering, the Department of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering, and the Technology Entrepreneur Center are now at the vanguard of the emerging discipline known as entrepreneurial engineering. Students enrolled in the Department of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering have the option of selecting a secondary field in "Corporate and Entrepreneurial Technology Commercialization (CETC)". And some of the Center's courses are a part of the IESE department's Masters and Ph.D. programs in Systems and Entrepreneurial Engineering.

The College of Engineering and TEC have also developed a certificate programs in Strategic Technology Management and Business Management for Engineers, aimed at post-graduate professionals eager to advance within the hierarchy of an established enterprise, or simply improve their management skills generally. In addition, the Center offers undergraduate students a certificate in Technology Commercialization.

Offered on-site and online, TEC courses can aid the engineer at every professional level whose focus is innovation.
